Upstate SC Alliance promotes Scoggins & Besser, hires Bryson

To expand its ability to market the Upstate region for global business investment and maximize its investor benefits, the Upstate SC Alliance has promoted two members and added one its team. Formed in 2000, the Alliance is a regional public-private economic development organization whose mission is to position the 10-county Upstate region to succeed in the global economy.
Lauren Scoggins has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer/Director of Investor Relations, a reflection of leadership she provides in the non-profit organization’s daily operations and financial management. In this role, Scoggins leads the annual budgeting process; produces financial reports and serves as liaison to the Finance Committee; serves as secretary for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors; and manages special operational projects in addition to supporting ongoing administration.
Scoggins also will continue to lead Investor Relations, implementing a strategic fundraising program and providing networking, research access and informational programming to the organization’s 190 public and private investor companies. She joined the Alliance team in January 2015.
Danielle Besser has been promoted to Communications & Engagement Manager. In this role, she leads the Alliance’s messaging and storytelling initiatives, providing strategic direction to the Investor Relations and in-region stakeholder communications in addition to crafting content for the organization’s marketing initiatives. Under the new structure, Besser will support the Alliance Business Recruitment and Global Engagement teams to maximize the Upstate’s visibility as a leading business location.
Besser will continue to spearhead the Alliance’s media relations, advocacy and multimedia storytelling programs in addition to developing engaging Alliance events, such as the Annual Meetings where #TeamUpstate and Move Up initiatives have launched. She joined the Alliance team in April 2016.
Jennings Bryson has been hired as Communications & Events Coordinator. In this role, she will support the communications plans and campaigns for all departments, curating and creating new content to meet organizational goals, with emphasis on the Alliance’s Investor Communications and the Alliance’s social media channels. Bryson will also support the planning, communications, and execution of business recruitment and member events. Bryson is a 2021 Clemson University graduate.
