USC announces “A Celebration of Dawn Staley” featuring Robin Roberts

The University of South Carolina announced the third annual “A Celebration of Dawn Staley” featuring co-anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America, Robin Roberts, who will sit down with Staley for a fireside chat to discuss Staley’s life and career as part of the fundraising event set for August 13.

The evening event (doors open at 6 p.m.) at the Pastides Alumni Center (900 Senate St.) in Columbia will highlight the Dawn Staley Champions Fund and three-time National Champion South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley. The event will also recognize Staley and the Gamecock women’s basketball historic undefeated 2023-24 season.

Through donor support and the August 13 fundraising event, the Dawn Staley Champions Fund is making a positive impact on USC students’ futures. The Champions Fund helps support scholarships for first-generation, economically disadvantaged, underrepresented students and student-athletes at USC by providing financial aid for tuition and educational expenses, creating equal opportunities for success, principles Staley has championed.

“Education is the key that unlocks the potential within everyone regardless of their background or circumstances,” Staley said. “Scholarships ensure that financial barriers do not hinder the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. This is more than a fundraiser, we are investing in a brighter future, empowering these young men and women with the opportunity to create a better world for themselves and their communities.”
