USC Dance Marathon Stands 14 Hours for PRISMA Health Children’s Hospital

USC Dance Marathon Targets $1.19 Million Goal and Celebrates 21 years on March 2
Proceeds benefit Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands
University of South Carolina Dance Marathon (USCDM): presented by Aflac, will host its 14-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping Main Event to celebrate its year-long efforts to raise money and awareness for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to midnight at Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center, at 1000 Blossom St, Columbia, SC 29201. After a record-breaking year, raising $1,025,171 in 2018, USCDM increased its 2019 fundraising goal to $1.19 million, in honor of the 119 beds in Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands.
During the Main Event, more than 2,000 registered participants, called “Heroes,” will hear stories from Miracle Families treated at the hospital, play games, experience the inaugural “Best DM Hero” competition, watch a live performance from one of our Miracle Kids and learn a fun and easy line dance.
At 11:50 p.m., the USCDM staff will reveal the final fundraising total from in-event fundraising and year-round fundraising.
Media Opportunities on March 2:
- 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. : Opening Ceremonies including, representatives from Aflac to present on Main Stage and Children’s Hospital representatives speaking.
- 2:15 – 11:00 p.m. : Miracle Families (patients of Children’s Hospital and their families) will speak about their experiences with Child Life and Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands.
- 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. : Mini Marathons, Dance Marathon programs from local high schools, to perform and share their fundraising totals.
- 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. : DMPM, a late-night rave.
- 11:30 p.m.: Final total reveal
Proceeds from USCDM will benefit the Child Life Program at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands and support the Dance Marathon at the University of South Carolina Playground at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands.

Since its founding in 1999, USCDM has raised over $4.6 million with all of the funds staying local to benefit Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands.
