Verizon Business to Provide IT Solutions, Professional Services to Federal Agencies Under 10-Year Contract

March 30, 2009

Company Among Prime Contractors Selected for U.S. General Service Administration’s Alliant Program, Valued at $50 Billion

ASHBURN, VA – March 30, 2009  – Verizon Business will provide information technology (IT) solutions and professional services to federal agencies under a 10-year contract that has been awarded by the U.S. General Services Administration.  Verizon Business, through its Federal Network Systems arm, was among multiple awardees selected by the GSA to provide services under the contract, which has a total value of as much as $50 billion.

The contract, for a program known as Alliant, authorizes Verizon Business to negotiate with government agencies to serve as a services and solutions integrator and provide a variety of services.  They include business process consulting and application development, communications applications and application management, data-center services, communication integration and management, networking, and secure-application optimization.

Alliant, which has a five-year base with one five-year option, will replace the GSA ANSWER and Millennia contracts for individual IT task orders with a minimum value of $1 million.

Susan Zeleniak, group president, Verizon Federal, a sales organization within Verizon Business dedicated to serving federal government customers, said: The Alliant award recognizes Verizon Business’ expanding IT and professional services capabilities. We already provide the federal government with an unsurpassed portfolio of advanced communications services. Alliant will allow us to bring innovative IT and professional services to our government clients over the next decade.

We have been providing IT and professional services, especially in the security and call center areas, for the government under other contracts. Alliant presents an opportunity for us to further meet the needs of federal agencies under an easy-to-use vehicle provided by the GSA.

In addition to Alliant, Verizon Business provides a wide array of advanced communications and IT services through several federal government contracts, including the Networx program, GSA Washington Interagency Telecommunications System (WITS 3), GSA Local Services Acquisition (LSA) contracts and GSA CONNECTIONS.

Verizon Business is the largest provider of communications services to the U.S. federal government and one of the largest providers of advanced communications and information technology services globally.  The company offers local-to-global network capabilities coupled with a broad range of telecommunications products and services — including advanced Internet protocol (IP) services, professional services, managed network services and systems integration — to all levels of government. With this broad portfolio of services, Verizon Business can provide federal agencies with one-stop shopping for their communications or connectivity needs. The company has built the next-generation services that are helping to transform the way government customers — and their constituents — do business.
