Verizon Enhances Wireless Network At Clemson University In Time For Home Opener At Memorial Stadium

August 27, 2012
CLEMSON, SC – August 27, 2012 – Verizon Wireless has announced it is making the Clemson experience even better for students, faculty and thousands of visiting football fans with a new state-of-the-art 4G wireless Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to improve wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds during peak network usage occasions.

The DAS has been installed behind the tiger paws in Memorial Stadium, which averages 77,500 spectators for home games, and the system includes separate antenna locations mounted throughout the facility to boost network strength and capacity. In addition to ensuring calls are successfully connected, the DAS allows smartphones, tablets and other devices to access the Internet, send text messages and quickly share photos and videos to social networking sites.
“The DAS makes reliable call quality, text messaging and data usage during Clemson home games a reality for any Verizon customer, no matter how large the crowd,” said Jerry Fountain, regional president of Verizon Wireless for the Carolinas and Tennessee. “The new system couldn’t come at a better time. During the 2012-2013 football season, Verizon customers will notice the benefits of this network enhancement in Tiger Town.”
