COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 2007) — Nearly 14,000 trade shows will be held across the United States and Canada this year, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research. As more and more companies realize the value of trade show marketing, there is a growing demand to clarify the industry’s best practices.

Veteran trade show host Dr. Manuel Gaetán has teamed up with the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce (GCCC) to share the secrets of successful trade show marketing in a seminar entitled, “How to Get the Most Benefit Out of Exhibiting at a Trade Show,” which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. September 25 in the Palmetto Room of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, located at 930 Richland Street.

Seminar fees (which include lunch, coffee breaks and study materials) are $125 for attendees who register prior to September 15. To encourage corporate participation, additional attendees from the same company may attend for $75 each. Additional discounts are in place for members of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Further details, updates, cancellation policies and agenda information is available online at www.Learn-in-Person.com.

“A tradeshow is the only place where the buyer spends lots of time and money visiting the customer, instead of the other way around,” said GCCC President Ike McLeese. “That’s why a trade show is often referred to as a parade of opportunities.”

During this interactive seminar, attendees will receive real-world sales tips, inspirational success stories and creative ideas for differentiation. Gaetán covers essentials like how to set realistic budgets, how to measure results, how to draw attendees from the hall entrance to your booth, how to staff your booth properly, how to qualify viable leads, and much more.

“My message is that there really is a science to successful trade show participation,” said Gaetán. “And those who take the time to learn all the aspects of preparing for the show — before, during and after — will take home the most business.”

Gaetán’s instruction is grounded in more than three decades of national and international trade show experience. He retired as President Emeritus of the Bobbin Group after a 28-year tenure. Bobbin ran shows in places as varied as Atlanta, Dallas, Miami Beach, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Mexico City and even Istanbul, Turkey.
