Veterans Day Lunch-and-Learn Program at Laurens County Museum to Highlight US Navy in the Revolutionary War

November 6, 2024

In honor of Veterans Day, the Laurens County Museum will host a special lunch-and-learn program titled “The First Salute and the Impact of the Navies of the American Revolution” on Tuesday, November 12. This insightful session, led by history enthusiast and museum researcher Anne Edwards, will take place at noon at the museum’s location at 116 South Public Square in Laurens, SC.

Edwards will delve into the significance of the American colonies’ naval forces during the Revolutionary War, featuring insights from Barbara Tuchman’s renowned book. The program will explore how the eleven-gun salute to the Flag of the 2nd Continental Congress by a foreign power on November 16, 1776, symbolized international recognition of America’s sovereignty. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and join in this educational tribute to history.

This event is free for veterans, museum members, and children, with a suggested $5 donation for other attendees to support the museum. For additional information, visit LaurensCountyMuseum.org or call (864) 681-3678.
