COLUMBIA, SC – The W. J. Keenan High School class of 1995 volunteered for United Way Day of Action on June 20 at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore as part of their 20-year reunion.

“We are all very community service oriented, and when we started planning this reunion, we thought it would be very important to give back to the community that served us,” said Kristie Simmons-Abney, 1995 Senior Class President and lead organizer of the reunion.

More than 65 former classmates and their families traveled from five states, from as far as New York and Idaho, to participate in the festivities.

“We planned a total of eight activities throughout the weekend and this one by far is what we were most excited for,” added Simmons-Abney. Simmons-Abney now lives in Charlotte, working in the health care industry as a business operations manager.

During their time at the ReStore, volunteers helped unload an entire 18-wheeler full of donations.
