Weather Stations Sending Real-Time Data from 4 Library Locations
March 13, 2019
As part of Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week, which runs through March 16, Richland Library is announcing a partnership with Richland County Emergency Services to join the Richland County Weather Information Network Data System (RC WINDS).
The system collects real-time data from more than 60 weather stations, based around the county. Richland County Emergency Services recently installed four of those weather stations at the following library locations:
- Richland Library Main (1431 Assembly Street)
- Richland Library Northeast (7490 Parklane Road)
- Richland Library Sandhills (763 Fashion Drive)
- Richland Library Southeast (7421 Garners Ferry Road)
With the click of a button, you can access temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed, barometric pressure and rainfall amounts. This information is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Initially unveiled in 2013, RC WINDS is the first county-owned weather monitoring system in the nation. The project is possible thanks to funding from individual grant awards, emergency management grants and charitable organizations.
