What’s New for the 80th Carolina Cup
February 9, 2012CAMDEN, SC – The 80th Annual Carolina Cup Steeplechase Race is set for Saturday, March 31st at the Springdale Race Course in historic Camden, SC. And, the folks at The Carolina Cup Racing Association have big plans to commemorate the historic event.
- Robert Ariail Artwork – Internationally-known cartoonist, Robert Ariail hasbeen commissioned for a poster-sized cartoon to mark the 80thAnniversary. Prints will be on-sale on race day and leading up to TheCup.
- Live Beach Music – Before the races begin, Billy Scott and the Party Prophets,will perform live in front of the Grandstand. The band, known for theirhit “I Got the Fever,” will also be on hand throughout the afternoon tosign autographs.
- Fashion Show – As a prelude to the spring styles that will be on display at The Cup, on February 29th, the University of South Carolina Fashion Board is hosting a new fashion show at the Russell House Ball Room on USC’sColumbia Campus. Sponsors, including Lilly Pulitzer, will wow some ofthe students who will be looking to don new digs at the steeplechase races.
- Ticket and a Tee – This year, the CCRA is running a “Ticket and a Tee” promotion. For $50 you get a 2012 Carolina Cup poster tee shirt anda general admission ticket.
