What Can You Access with a Library Card?

It’s one, small step that children, teens and adults can take to save hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services. During Library Card Sign-Up Month, which runs through September, Richland Library stresses the importance of having a card.
Library cards are free for residents and property owners of Richland County, and they’re $65 for most others. Discounted cards are available for teachers, military members, child care providers and college students who currently teach or reside in Richland County.
Benefits include access to 60 titles at one time – covering books, audiobooks, music and movies. There are some other great options to check out as well, such as:
Make an Affirmation Tote Bag with Creativebug.com. It has more than 1,000 award-winning art and craft video classes, taught by recognized design experts and artists.
Talk like a Pirate with Mango Languages. The web-based interactive program uses a simple, step-by-step interface to make learning a language fun. Each lesson includes audio and visual learning methods that are suited to all language learners.
Watch films with Kanopy. It highlights award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema. Kanopy currently offers more than 300 films that feature South Carolina, and it adds about 150 new titles each month.
Reserve a room. The library offers a variety of meeting and study spaces for use by community groups, non-profit agencies and other organizations. In fact, more than 20,000 people exchanged ideas in a library meeting space during fiscal year 2018.
