Who Is Your SHEro?

January 16, 2020

In each of our lives, there have been one or more women on whose shoulders we stand, who have guided us, encouraged us, shown us the way, empowered us, and made an unforgettable impact on our lives. Greenville Women Giving (GWG) is providing a meaningful way to honor them through its SHEroes campaign.

Individuals may recognize women who have inspired them by making a $50 donation to the Greenville Women Giving Endowment before February 16. The names of all honorees – and those who honored them – will be published in a two-page ad in the Friday, March 6 edition of The Greenville Journal, two days prior to International Women’s Day.

Greenville Women Giving is a collective women’s giving organization that funds Greenville County non-profit organizations in the areas of arts, education, environment, health and human services.

This marks the third annual SHEroes campaign and the first time it coincides with International Women’s Day.

“In the past, SHEroes coincided with Mother’s Day, a holiday that didn’t apply to some of the honorees,” explains GWG Co-Chair Janet Sumner. “A more appropriate fit is International Women’s Day, a tremendous grassroots movement that – just like Greenville Women Giving – is powered by the collective efforts of all.”

Last year, 174 women were honored as SHEroes, adding almost $10,000 to the GWG Endowment. The GWG Endowment helps ensure the continued impact of women giving collectively, granting strategically and growing a greater Greenville.

To participate in the SHEroes campaign, simply follow this link www.greenvillewomengiving.org/membership/shero/ and click the “Honor a SHEro Today” button. Follow the instructions to complete the donation.

To donate by check, download a printable PDF from the SHEro page of the GWG website. Complete the form and mail it with a check made payable to Greenville Women Giving Endowment Fund to 630 E. Washington Street, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29601

There is no limit to the number of SHEroes an individual may recognize, but each requires a $50 minimum donation.
