Will Rees joins Columbia office of SMITH | ROBINSON law firm

Attorney Will Rees has joined the Columbia office of SMITH | ROBINSON law firm as an associate.

He plans at this point to practice in the areas of general litigation and appellate work.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Will came south to attend Wofford College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in economics, magna cum laude, in 2022. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law this May.

While in law school he received CALI Awards in Civil Procedure; Legal Research, Analysis and Writing II; Advanced Legal Analysis; Drafting Business Agreements; and Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing III. He was one of 15 students from across the country to win the 2025 Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award, known commonly as a Burton Award, for a Law Review article he wrote. He also tutored first-year law students in civil procedure.

He worked as a law clerk for SMITH | ROBINSON starting in May 2023, and joined the firm as an associate upon passing the bar this year.

When not practicing law, Will enjoys spending time with friends and family, including his fiancée, whom he will marry in January. He also plays golf and is an avid fan of Gamecock football.
