William Buyck joins Columbia office of SMITH | ROBINSON law firm
March 18, 2025Attorney William P.A. Buyck III has joined SMITH | ROBINSON law firm in an Of Counsel capacity. He started with the firm in the Columbia office on Feb. 18, and his practice will focus on medical malpractice defense and general litigation.
Mr. Buyck is a 6th-generation South Carolinian who grew up in Saint Matthews. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of South Carolina in 2007, and then a certificate of graduate studies in biomedical sciences from the same university in 2010. He earned his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law in 2016.
He then clerked for two years for the Honorable H. Bruce Williams of the South Carolina Court of Appeals and has been in private practice in Columbia since 2018. He has practiced in areas of civil litigation defense, primarily in insurance and personal injury.
He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, and admitted to practice in all state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is also a member of the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys Association (SCDTAA).
Devoted to his state and community, he has engaged in public service through various organizations. He has served as a member of the Special Olympics of South Carolina committee and the Make-a-Wish committee through the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division.
He and his wife, Katherine, have two children. He is an ardent fan of the Gamecocks and enjoys spending free time at the beach, working on the family farm, playing golf, going bird hunting and fishing, and exploring the Congaree Swamp.
