Wingard’s Market hosts Tatanka Bison Tour

Wingard’s Market hosts its Tatanka Bison Ranch Tour, led by Wingard’s Naturalist Zach Steinhauser.
The Tatanka Bison Tour takes place Sunday, October 16th at 1:00 pm in York, SC. Members of the tour will join Captain Zach as they visit Tatanka Bison Ranch, where guests will learn the history of the bison herd, how to manage a bison herd, and experience the bison thunder across pastures from ranch owner Fred Ilse.
This adventure is a mix of ecotourism and agritourism. Since there are no wild prairie landscapes left in SC, there are members of this herd that are harvested, and their meat products are sold by Fred which you can purchase at the end of the tour.
Zach received his degree in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation and created this ecotourism opportunity because this is the only Bison herd in South Carolina! “I love getting to show people all of the incredible wildlife in South Carolina. There truly is so much to see, and it’s important to show people the beauty of these natural habitats and what we can do to protect them.” states Zach Steinhauser, Wingard’s Naturalist.
