Winners of the 2014 Holiday Parade of Boats Announced

CHARLESTON, SC – The 33rd Annual Holiday Parade of Boats, produced by the City of Charleston and the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron, was held in Charleston Harbor on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Thousands of spectators viewed the parade along the route from Mt. Pleasant to Charleston.

Captains and crews were invited to the Captain’s Party and Awards Ceremony at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina where prizes were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boats in both the power and sail categories, with the best-in-show award going to the highest scoring boat overall.

 

The prize winning boats were as follows:

Sail Category:

1st Place:        #19 “Pawsitive Latitude”    65ft.     Waxhaw, NC             Brian Clark

2nd Place:      #26 “Manta” aka “Yahooo”             45ft.     Charleston, SC          Rusty Day

3rd Place:       #29 “Naut On Call”              38ft.     Hanahan, SC             Eddie Evans

 

Power Category:

1st Place:        #15 “Carolina Sunrise”        28ft.     Whittier, NC                         Jeff and Jenny Kegler

2nd Place:      #4 “Nauti Time”                   23ft.     Summerville, SC      Brian James

3rd Place:       #22 “Goombay”                    24ft.     Folly Beach, SC         James Rawls

Mayor Joseph P. Riley said, “The Parade of Boats is one of our treasured holiday events in Charleston. Congratulations to everyone who participated. The boats this year, as with every year, were so beautifully decorated.” He continued, “I would also like to thank everyone who offered logistical support on the water and the law enforcement officers who make this wonderful event a success year after year.”
