WKHS student leaders earn ‘outstanding’ awards

April 20, 2018

Represented by officers Noelle E. Dingeldein, Griffin J. Gold, Giselle L. Mota, Nicholas D. Quinn, Salena V. Robinson and Manuel A. Wallick, White Knoll High’s Student Council won not one, but three awards from the Student Council Coalition.

In addition to winning 2018 Student Government of the Year, WKHS also received the 2018 Outstanding Project in School Recognition and 2018 Outstanding Project in School Spirit awards, showing tremendous heart and dedication to both their school and community.

WKHS entered a portfolio of items, including evidence of student-led meetings, annual elections, an understanding of bylaws, community service activities and projects that promoted school spirit for consideration as Student Government of the Year.

The Timberwolves received the Outstanding Project in School Recognition for honoring faculty and staff members who served in the military. Students held a breakfast reception and gave them a painting signed by council members. They also created a Veterans Day display case at the front of the school that contained staff members’ personal military artifacts and their own families’ military artifacts.

WKHS won the Outstanding Project in School Spirit award for their spirited pep rallies, especially the one held this past winter, which focused on honoring their Project Unify and Special Olympics students. They are a National Unified Champion School.

Student government members also enhanced the homecoming and rivalry week pep rallies with games and dance-off competitions.
