Wofford to host panel on ‘Executive Power and Terrorism’

Discussion on ‘Future of Law and the Constitution’ set for March 28
Wofford College will host a roundtable discussion on “Executive Power and Terrorism: The Future of Law and the Constitution in the 21st Century” at 4 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the McMillan Theater in the Campus Life Building.
The program is free and open to the public.
The panel will consist of presentations by two legal experts in the field, Amos Guiora, professor at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah (left) and Thomas Crocker, a professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law. The presentations will be followed by discussion led by Judge Henry F. Floyd, a 1970 Wofford graduate, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Dr. David Alvis, associate professor of government at Wofford.
The discussion will center on how, since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the United States has struggled to find a balance between preventing future terrorist attacks and protecting the constitutional rights of individuals suspected of or with connections to terrorist activities.
The program is co-sponsored with Wofford by the Spartanburg Bar Association.
