Womble Bond Dickinson South Carolina COVID-19 forum to feature US Sen. Tim Scott, SC Commerce Sec. Bobby Hitt, MUSC President Dr. David Cole

April 28, 2020

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted virtually every aspect of doing business in South Carolina and throughout America. On April 30, Womble Bond Dickinson is presenting a conversation with US Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt and Medical University of South Carolina President Dr. David Cole on how the state and the nation are responding to this crisis, and what businesses can expect in the future.

The approximately one-hour webinar takes place at 9:30 a.m. this Thursday. The event will be hosted by Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Stephanie Few, whose economic development practice focuses on South Carolina and the Southeast.

“In recent years, the firm has hosted a South Carolina Economic Summit, bringing business leaders together to hear from and meet with federal, state and local government officials,” Stephanie said. “Since an in-person gathering isn’t possible at this time, we decided to pivot and offer a webinar on the issues at the top of everyone’s mind – COVID-19 and its related economic and public health challenges.”

Stephanie and Sen. Scott will talk for 30 minutes on the current state of South Carolina’s economy, how COVID-19 has impacted the state’s business community, how the CARES Act is helping South Carolina companies weather this storm, and what additional steps federal lawmakers are discussing for the near future.

Then, Secretary Hitt will speak on the state’s economic response to the COVID-19 crisis, and what South Carolina business leaders need to know to navigate this crisis.

Dr. Cole will close the session with a discussion of the public health challenges posed by COVID-19 and what South Carolinians can expect in the weeks and months to come.

This webinar will be streamed on the Womble Bond Dickinson Facebook page.
