Women in Philanthropy hosts its 15th Annual Power of the Purse on May 3 to raise money for women and children in the Midlands
May 2, 2018United Way of the Midlands’ Women in Philanthropy hosts the 15th Annual Power of the Purse event Thursday, May 3, 5:30 p.m. at 701 Whaley to raise money to support local women and children on their path to economic stability.
“One-hundred percent of the net proceeds from Power of the Purse go directly back into our community thanks to the incredible sponsors we have within the community,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “This is Women in Philanthropy’s largest fundraising event of the year and allows this group of investors to create positive, measurable long-term change by focusing on root causes and pooling resources to increase impact.”
The event features a live and silent auction of designer purses, beauty and restaurant packages, vacation getaways, work by local artists and a Man Cave section with items for gentlemen.
Women in Philanthropy will be collecting new or gently-used luggage, backpacks, duffle bags and purses to donate to local women’s shelters for families in transition. Attendees may bring their items to the event.
