Work by Greenville Tech Instructor Included in State Exhibit

GREENVILLE, SC – April 20, 2010 – Work by Greenville Tech Visual Arts Instructor Blake Praytor are included in an exhibition at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia. “Palmetto Portraits: Images by Contemporary South Carolina Photographers” opens April 23 and features more than 275 photographs by 24 South Carolina photographers depicting South Carolinians at work and play.

A range of occupations will be represented including crabbers and crab net makers, bakers, blues and jazz musicians, fine artists and folk artists, business owners in small communities and along King Street in Charleston, hat makers, sweet grass basket makers, shrimpers, and others. Some photographs will be accompanied by objects that relate to their subjects such as products of the trade or works of art.

Photographers include Jack Alterman of Charleston and Brett Flashnick of Columbia. The exhibition, in the Lipscomb Gallery, can be seen through January 9, 2011.
