Your vision for 2015

What’s your life sentence?

A good role model for any of us is Clare Booth Luce.

In case her name is unfamiliar to you, she was:

• A journalist and war correspondent.

• A novelist, playwright and screen writer.

One of her best known plays was “The Women.”

It was later made into a hit motion picture.

• The first American woman named an ambassador.

• A young liberal who became an older conservative.

• A help to Ronald Reagan winning the presidency.

• The wife of Time magazine publisher Henry Luce.

She liked to offer a challenge to her friends.

She would ask them to write their life sentence.

This was what they would want on their tomb stones.

What I want to ask you to do is even bigger than that.

In the next few weeks, I’ll give you several challenges.

They will help you prepare for the year ahead.

This is the first of five such challenges.

On paper, write these three headings:

1. Mind, body and soul.

This is your mental, physical and spiritual self.

2. Family, friends and fun.

Your loved ones and what you love to do with them.

3. Calling, achievements and legacy.

What you feel called to do and how you excel at it.

It concludes with how you want to be remembered.

Now write your life sentence about the first group.

Keep it to 15 words which sharpens your focus.

Try a draft sentence now and improve it later.

Next write your sentence about the second group.

Keep it to 15 words also to sharpens your focus.

Try a draft sentence now and work on it later.

Finally, write your sentence about the third group.

Keep it to 15 words as well.

Try a draft sentence now and improve on it later.

If you have trouble, email me a note. I’ll help you.
