Your vision for 2015 – Brainstorming ideas by yourself.
December 29, 2014By Jerry Bellune
Brainstorming ideas by yourself.
Are you ready for something really rare?
I’m going to share a revolutionary idea with you.
But first, a few final words for good ol’ 2014.
If you had a profitable 2014, let me suggest this:
Find a worthwhile local charity.
Send them 5% to 10% of your net profit.
It will improve your community.
It will give you a tax write-off.
But do it no later than Dec. 31, 2014.
That way you’ll have a tax deduction.
Now for the revolutionary idea.
Have you ever brainstormed ideas with others?
It’s a great strategy for creativity and innovation.
What if you did it by yourself?
Our friend Ken Blum taught me to do it.
His system is in our co-authored book.
It’s called “Killer Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurs.”
In it, Ken, I and 20 others share their secrets.
Here’s how to make this work for you in 2015.
1. Set aside 30 minutes a day.
Don’t have 30? Make it 18. You can spare 18.
Make an appointment with yourself.
Do it when you are alone and free of disruptions.
2. Use a timer.
3. List six key life and career topics.
A sample list you might use:
• My personal and professional life.
Anything goes here.
• My personal financial plan.
• The book I’ve want to write.
• Losing weight and exercising regularly.
• Marketing my business and/or myself.
• Improving my skill at a hobby I enjoy.
4. Set your timer for five minutes.
Start with topic #1. Start writing. Let the ideas flow. When the timer rings, restart it for five minutes.
Start on #2. Let the ideas flow. Five minutes.
Work your way through your list.
If you’re short of time, set the timer for three minutes. But get to all six topics.
You’re planting the seeds of your creative power. They will sprout and blossom into dozens of ideas.
Keep nurturing them every day.
