Your vision for 2015 – Build your 2015 success plan

Build your 2015 success plan
It may be tempting to barrel into 2015 with no plan.
You and I know business owners who do.
Lets just do what we did last year, they say.
That’s foolish. Conditions change.
Our competition, clients and vendors change.
Just about everything changes.
Planning takes time, some may argue. They’re right.
But overall it will end up saving you time.
You know where you want to go and how to get there.
Conditions will change along the way.
But with a plan, you can more easily adjust.
Here’s how I plan. It’s my way. It may not be yours.
But do what feels best for you.
If some of this may work for you, try it.
I start with four major goals I want to achieve.
Personal or professional, it doesn’t matter.
Then I assign priorities and one for each quarter.
Some will take more than three months.
If so, I give them as long as I believe it will take.
Then I break them down into steps with deadlines.
On my calendar, I note these deadlines.
It’s a simple system with room to expand.
As other needs come along, I slide them in.
I know one owner who plans every day for a year.
He must be better focused than most of us.
But I admire his productivity.
So I plan as much as I can, knowing plans will change.
The priorities and deadlines matter most.
They keep you on track and accountable.
I also use a planning guide for major projects.
These allow me to state a vision for the project.
That means what it will look like when finished.
I can describe this in detail and how I will feel about it.
It notes who will do what by when.
This is the key to success for any plan.
