Youth Corps Announces New Board Members
July 25, 2013COLUMBIA, SC – July 24, 2013 – Youth Corps, a leadership program for outstanding ninth and tenth graders from Midlands schools, announced the Board of Directors for 2013-2014. This group of 23 will work together to support Youth Corps in its mission to provide a one-year course of practical, hands-on, on-site study and experience for that offers opportunities and exposure to relevant professional competencies, community service and leadership skills.
We are so excited to welcome these new board members, said Jeff Becraft, Executive Director. The members of this group are all driven and motivated individuals who are looking to help Youth Corps and show these students how they can and make a difference in the community.

Youth Corps is based on the conviction that high school young people need to be educated and equipped for decision-making positions in the Midlands’ public, private, and independent sectors building a unified body of young people prepared for future involvement in community leadership. The Youth Corps Selection Committee chooses 40 student applicants who show promise of leadership abilities. Applicants to the program must obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, business or community leader and take part in an interview with Youth Corps team leaders.
