Zeus: Accelerated FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink Capabilities
May 4, 2010Enhanced capabilities make Zeus FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrinkideal for next-generation developments as composite release aids, fuelcell, downhole petroleum insulations, and other applications thatrequire thin film-like properties in a heat shrink
ORANGEBURG, SC – May 4, 2010 – Zeus, Inc., a global leader inhigh-performance polymer extrusion and material science, announces itsaccelerated FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink capabilities. Zeus now manufacturesFEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink in diameters over 4, with ultra thin walls of.002, demonstrating machine-like capability with performance plastics. For a complete list of new sizes and other information, visit http://www.zeusinc.com/.
FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink is a material of choice in applications wherenon-flammable plastics are required even in high operating temperaturesexceeding 400 degrees F (204 degrees C). These products also meet theFAR 25.853(a) and UL-VO flammability ratings. FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrinkhas excellent non-stick properties, which allow it to be a seamlessalternative to tapes or other films in composite release aidapplications.
Our capabilities in FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink exceed current industrystandards and allow us to offer larger diameter thin wall heatshrinkable products, said Rob Hall, Vice President of EngineeredExtrusions. We are now able to meet the demand for value-orientedfluoropolymer solutions from a larger market, previously unattainabledue to size limitations.
Within the aerospace industry, FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink is excellent forbattery pack covers. Due to flammability ratings, FEP is a leadingchoice as a material replacement to lower flame rated plastics used inconsumer battery packs. These products are also heavily utilized inaerospace applications as a release agent needed to form composites. FEPis an approved contact material with composites. Additionally, it isalso utilized in the fabrication of various composites due to itslubricity and ability to withstand elevated autoclave temperatures inexcess of 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
