2012 Scholastic Art Awards for South Carolina recognizes SCGSAH Visual Arts students

SOUTH CAROLINA – January 25, 2012 – South Carolina Governor’s Schoolfor the Arts (SCGSAH) Visual Arts students are recognized in the 2012Scholastic Art Awards for South Carolina Art Region and will exhibittheir work from now until February 3, 2012 at the Monsanto Art Gallery,Lander University.

Seven SCGSAH students received awards for work in a variety ofmediums: sculpture, printmaking, jewelry, design and photography.

The exhibit showcases the best high school artistic talent in theregion. Two SCGSAH students, Libby Davis and Kaili Tsao, received GoldKey awards. Their work will be considered for national recognition. Ifrecognized as a National Medalist, they will be celebrated at a ceremonyat Carnegie Hall in New York and have their work showcased in aprominent gallery.
 
Kaili Tsao also received an American Vision award (Best of Show). Fiveworks are selected out of all the Gold Key works (across categories) andnamed American Vision awards.
 
SCGSAH students credit their hometown high school arts educators, aswell as, the exceptional training in the SCGSAH Visual Arts departmentchaired by Joe Thompson.
