United Community Bank promotes Dixon Woodward to state leadership role

United Community Bank announced Dixon Woodward has been promoted to State President for South Carolina and Coastal Georgia. Woodward has nearly two decades of banking experience, much of it in the Coastal Carolinas region. He joined United Community Bank in 2015 and as Regional President for South Carolina, has been a significant factor in the bank’s success in the state. Over the past three years, the bank has expanded into three new South Carolina markets: Greenville, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
“Dixon earned this position due to his outstanding performance on behalf of the bank coupled with his strategic vision for the bank’s long-term success in this region,” said Rich Bradshaw, President, Commercial & Community Banking. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact of his leadership throughout our South Carolina and Coastal Georgia markets.”

This new position is part of a new structure put in place by the bank to further strengthen its local bank operations. Prior to joining United in 2015, Woodward served as Market President – Coastal Carolinas for a large national bank. Woodward spent the early years of his career working in multiple positions for Carolina First, including a stint as Market President – South Coast. In 2013, Woodward was recognized by the Charleston Regional Business Journal as one of the top “40 Under 40.”

Woodward is deeply involved in the Charleston community and serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Arts Commission Foundation, as well as the South Carolina Aquarium. He is a former board member of College of Charleston Foundation along with the Charleston Regional Development Alliance. He was also previously involved with the American Red Cross Clara Barton Society, the American Heart Association Heart Ball, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina Young Bankers Association.
Woodward is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Bankers School and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking. He and his wife Erica live in Charleston with their two young children.
