Winthrop University to host Distinguished Lecture Series
February 5, 2019
The 2019 SC INBRE Distinguished Lecture Series hosted by Winthrop University is supported by the South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (SC INBRE, http://scinbre.org). SC INBRE is a five-year renewable $18.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health which supports research and education at SC INBRE’s 13 member and four outreach institutions of higher learning throughout South Carolina. The Lecture Series offers two talks – one of general audience interest and one with technical aspects. Both lectures are free, open to the public and located on Winthrop University’s campus in Owens G01.
This year’s guest speaker will be Dr. Elizabeth Nolan (http://web.mit.edu/nolanlab/Nolan_Lab_Website/Liz_Nolan.html), associate professor of biochemistry at MIT. Her lab studies aspects of the human innate immune response and host/pathogen interaction, blending techniques of chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, and cell biology.
GENERAL AUDIENCE (abstract: https://goo.gl/dkNDJM), Mon, Feb 18, 7 pm
