Dr. Bowman & Dr. Brown join Midlands Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery
September 4, 2018Midlands Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery, PA announced that Drs. Seth Bowman and Matthew Brown joined the practice as of September 1, 2018.
Dr. Bowman completed his hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Virginia. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also attended medical school. He received his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston. Dr. Bowman is a member of the American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association, and the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Bowman specializes in finger, elbow and shoulder replacement surgery and microsurgery. A lifelong tennis player, Dr. Bowman became interested in orthopaedic surgery, and upper extremity specifically, after receiving orthopaedic treatment for tennis injuries. “The orthopaedic surgeon taking care of me was crucial to my ability to get back on the court and perform at my highest level.” He wants to offer Midlands patients the same care. “I enjoy providing orthopaedic care to both athletes and non-athletes alike to get them back to [doing] what they love doing as quickly as possible.”
Dr. Brown joins Midlands Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery after completing his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee as well as a neurosurgical spine fellowship at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England. He graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina.
Neurosurgery became of interest to Dr. Brown, not only because of its complexity, but also because its rewards. “I have enjoyed working with patients with a wide variety of neurological problems – problems that, at times, are not seen by an outside observer, but have a profound impact on the quality of life of the patient… That I can offer my patients support, understanding, and the chance for improvement is a privilege that keeps this work invigorating.”
Dr. Bowman and Dr. Brown are now seeing patients at all of our locations.
