January 9, 2018

United Way of the Midlands announced the promotion of GB Olsen to Vice President of Resource Development earlier today.

“GB has been a valued member of the team at United Way of the Midlands team for the last four years. She has extensive experience in major and planned gifts and has played a key role in growing leadership giving here at United Way of the Midlands,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “GB brings a variety of other fundraising experience with her from several different nonprofit sectors, including hospitals, museums, colleges and universities.”

Olsen was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Donor Engagement last summer. Olsen has a broad familiarity with the United Way system having worked for two other United Ways in Tampa and Greenville. She was named 2017 Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the Central South Carolina Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals last fall.

“I am humbled to accept this position and look forward to carrying out the mission and vision of United Way of the Midlands,” said Olsen. “We have such a great team of employees and volunteers who work tirelessly to create opportunities for better lives in the Midlands.”

Olsen will replace Mike Gray who will retire later this month after 35 years with the organization.
