Nephron Pharmaceuticals makes generous donation to LTC

October 12, 2017

The Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation generously donated a laminar flow hood to the Lexington Technology Center’s pharmacology program. This laminar flow hood allows students to learn more, through hands-on experience, about the sterile compounding of medications to the exact strength and dosage prescribed by a physician for a patient.

Lexington Technology Center pharmacy technology students will also benefit from a $7,500 donation to Lexington County School District One’s Educational Foundation designed to cover course fees for eligible pharmacology students.

These students learn basic medical terminology, pharmacy operations and medical mathematics calculations. They also learn about medications and laws affecting the pharmacy industry.

Once they complete this course, the students can take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board examination.

Julie A. Washburn, foundation executive director, expressed the district’s thanks to Lou Kennedy, CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation, for her generous support by saying, “With partnerships like this one, the district exposes students to future career opportunities. Gifts like this enable students to succeed.”
