Hobby Lobby cuts ribbon on first store in Lexington, South Carolina

September 18, 2017

Hobby Lobby celebrated the opening of its first location in Lexington, South Carolina recently at Lexington Marketplace, the new grocery-anchored shopping center in the rapidly growing suburb.

Hobby Lobby is a major tenant of the new Lexington Marketplace, occupying 55,000 square feet of the 143,850-square-foot shopping center located on S.C. Highway 378 (Sunset Boulevard) at Saluda Springs Road. The Fresh Market will join Hobby Lobby in anchoring the center and is scheduled to open in Spring 2018.

Other major tenants of Lexington Marketplace include Ulta, Tuesday Morning, Tijuana Flats, MOD Pizza, Lee Nails, Aiden Lane and Brain Balance.

“With its premier mix of stores and restaurants, pedestrian-friendly design and beautiful outdoor gathering space, Lexington Marketplace will offer the community a unique shopping experience,” said Darrell Palasciano, leasing advisor for Lexington Marketplace. “We look forward to welcoming more exciting retailers to the shopping center. Hobby Lobby’s grand opening is just the beginning!”

Columbia, South Carolina-based developer Columbia Development owns the shopping center and is working with Palasciano to lease the remaining 22,100 square feet of retail space. Columbia envisions a diverse mix of tenants, ranging from local and regional boutiques that will complement the existing mix of first-class retailers to unique chef-driven restaurant concepts and premier health and wellness offerings.

“We are excited to welcome a new and unique mix of upscale retailers to the Lexington community,” said Abbitt Goodwin, partner at Columbia Development. “We are confident that the combination of a vibrant mix of retail, restaurants and exceptional amenities will make Lexington Marketplace a valuable asset for the town.”

Hobby Lobby is the first tenant to open its doors at the new center, with the remaining tenants scheduled to open within the next year. The community can expect the next wave of store openings this Fall.
