Your attitude is everything
Jake Bentley is a sophomore football quarterback.
If you’re a Gamecock fan, you know who he plays for.
He says he feels responsible for his team’s attitude.
It’s easy to be upbeat when you’re winning.
When you’re behind it’s harder to be positive.
He’s taken this as his challenge this year.
He will be their role model – winning or losing.
What’s amazing is that Jake is 19 years old.
It takes most of us many years to figure this out.
The way we act affects all of those around us.
Go around with a long face and guess what happens?
Be positive and you pick others up with you.

Our friend Ruth King offers a vital suggestion.
A manager she knows was having a hard time.
He was so depressed he dreaded coming to work.
His attitude was rubbing off on his co-workers.
Ruth’s remedy was simple – and inexpensive.
1. Compliment your crew members every day.
2. Make it specific and sincere.
Find something they did well to praise.
3. Do it without fail every day.
If not everyone every day at least a few every day,
Do it for everyone at least once a week.
Can’t find something to compliment at least one?
Maybe he or she should not be working with you.

He did it. Now he and his colleagues feel better.
Productivity rose and their work improved, too.
Are you are so busy you can’t see straight?
Too much on your to do list making you grumpy?
Guess what? You are making everyone grumpy.
Do you and they fail to be cheerful with customers?
You are heading your business into a death spiral.
A quick and easy way to end this? Say “thank you.”
Every day find ways to say thanks to your colleagues.
To your customers. And, of course, to your family.
When you are sincere, you can’t be grumpy.
