8th annual indie craft fair – the Midlands’ largest – hosts 90+ vendors
Crafty Feast, the Midlands’ largest independent craft fair, will kick off the holiday shopping season with its eighth annual, one-stop-shopping market – featuring nearly 100 artisans of handmade and repurposed goods and gifts from across the Southeast – at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, S.C. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 12 to 6 p.m. Admission is $3; free for kids 10 & under.
In addition to exploring the colorful aisles of uniquely curated goods – from printing press cards and local pimento cheese to succulent planters and hand-melded metal birdhouses – guests can sip mimosas, apple cider, craft beer and wine; and snack on popcorn, chicken wings and vegetarian bites.
Inspired attendees will enjoy making DIY crafts with local handmade goods brand, Gather and Craft, and children can get creative at the kids’ craft table, led by Columbia Museum of Art, themed for the museum’s current exhibition, “CUT! Costume and the Cinema.”
Local graphic designer and illustrator Cait Maloney, who created the graphic branding for Crafty Feast 2016, will sell Crafty Feast sticker sheets featuring objects from this year’s brand design – including robots, birds, paint brushes and popcorn – for $1 each.
Guests will also enjoy background tunes spun by “DJ Dr. P” Scott Padgett, and chatting with Columbia Design League about Runaway Runway, Columbia’s annual recycled fashion show, happening April 29, 2017.
Meet the Vendors
Choosing from more than 300 submissions, six Crafty Feast jurors – influencers from Columbia’s arts scene – hand-picked close to 100 vendors for this year’s fair, judging them on a ten-point scale for entry. More than a third of this year’s makers are new to Crafty Feast; 78 artisans are from outside of Columbia; and 35 are from outside of S.C. – coming from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina.
Unique to Crafty Feast, all vendors hand-make items or artistically repurpose goods for sale. No re-sellers are allowed at Crafty Feast.
