Police Department Recommends Safe Halloween Practices
October 26, 2015Here are a few Safety Tips and Town Information from the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department to Remember:
• The Town will be having its annual Halloween trick-or-treat activities on October 31, 2014 between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
• Children above the age of 12 should not be permitted to participate in door to door trick-or- treat activities.
• Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
• Children should wear bright clothing for high visibility and the clothing should not be
constricted to prevent normal movement or visibility.
• Carry a small flashlight or disposable light stick for better visibility.
• Children are reminded to that they should always walk with an adult and stay in a group.
• Children should walk on the grass away from the street and not run around cars.
• Parents should check candy, consumables and other gifts before children are permitted to
eat them.
• If any candy is discovered that appears questionable or has been opened, it is
recommended that the candy be discarded as a precaution.
• Citizens who reside in or who will be passing through neighborhoods where trick-or-treat or
other Halloween activities are taking place are reminded to be extra careful and drive slower than usual as a precaution for those children who may be walking near the street or roadways.
