New water park; tallest water slide in the U.S. heading to North Augusta

South Carolina City Set Sights on $21.5 Million Recreational Development Project
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – The City of North Augusta has inked an economic development deal to bring Scuttle’s Island Water Park to South Carolina. The new 40-acre water park is set to open Memorial Day 2016.
Scuttle’s Island will be a water park that will have something for all ages: “Scuttles Cove” a 34,000 square-foot wave pool; “The Crow’s Nest,” a 54-foot slide; “Walk the Plank,” a 90-foot slide; and a “Not So Lazy River,” which will consist of a 2,000-foot river with rapids and a waterfall. For the Pirates in training, kids will have fun exploring “Finn’s Reef” which will include: 15,000 square feet of pirate-themed attractions, massive dump buckets, water cannons, slides, cargo nets and more. The park will have a main dining location, a Mexican-themed Bar and Restaurant and an ice cream parlor.
The project is estimated to cost more than $21 million and bring in between 250,000 and 300,000 visitors annually.
City of North Augusta Mayor, Lark Jones, stated, “It is exciting to see an economic development recreational project of this magnitude come to our City. This will be something that families from across the Southeast will be able to enjoy for generations to come.”
