State Museum Presents Museum Road Show on Saturday, July 11

COLUMBIA, SC – The South Carolina State Museum presents the Museum Road Show from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Appraisers and artifact experts from across the Southeast specializing in fine art, textiles, jewelry, silver, military memorabilia, and more will be onsite providing informal verbal appraisals to museum guests.
Whether it’s an heirloom, antique or artifact, guests are invited to learn more about their objects from the following appraisers and experts: Frank Sarnowski (generalist, furniture and decorative arts), James Brannock (furniture, decorative and fine arts), Dawn Corley “The Charleston Silver Lady” (silver, porcelain and estate jewelry), Maree Dowdey (textiles and dolls), Dr. Jack Meyer (coins, currency and military memorabilia), Neil Rose (Civil War memorabilia), Phil Wingard (pottery), Thomas Kuhn (Native American art and artifacts) and Ron Bridwell (books and documents).
“Throughout the year we get many calls from the public about items found at flea markets, garage sales or that were passed down through generations,” said curator of history JoAnn Zeise. “This event is a great opportunity for people to learn more about those items, including their stories, significance and value.”
Tickets are $25 for one item ($20 members), $35 for two items ($28 members), $45 for three items ($36 members) and $50 for four items ($40 members). There is a limit of four items per person. The Crescent Café will open early at 9:00 a.m. and will have pastries, muffins and coffee available for purchase. The Museum Road Show will take place at the State Museum located at 301 Gervais Street in Columbia.
