Still Hopes CEO Danny Sanford Honored by LeadingAge South Carolina

April 22, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community announced that LeadingAge South Carolina recognized Executive Director and CEO Danny Sanford with its 2015 Award of Honor. The award, which recognizes an individual whose work has affected the industry of aging services with excellence, was presented on April 21, 2015, at the LeadingAge SC “Night of Distinction.”

In his three decades of experience in the senior living industry, Sanford has been defined as an innovative, visionary leader and an advocate for change. He has held executive leadership positions at five retirement communities in North and South Carolina, including Still Hopes, where he has been executive director since 2000. His lifelong work has focused on providing the highest level of service to seniors.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and a third-generation long-term care administrator, Sanford was raised on a retirement community campus and uses his extensive knowledge to optimize successful aging at Still Hopes. The presentation of this award coincides with the culmination of a 10-year strategic plan Sanford developed with Still Hopes’ Board of Directors to transform the community and position it to meet the high expectations of Baby Boomers, who are the next generation of retirees.

“We are thrilled that Danny has received this special honor,” said Rhonnie Newton, Chairman of the Board at Still Hopes. “He embodies the mission of LeadingAge SC and is a major leader in the retirement industry. It has been a privilege to work alongside him.”

Beyond his work to create a culture of wellness that keeps Still Hopes at the forefront of progressive senior living, Sanford has been an active advocate for the industry, speaking at national continuing education conferences, serving as treasurer, chair-elect and chair of LeadingAge South Carolina as well as on the National LeadingAge board of directors. He is a member of the South Carolina Committee on Public Policy and the National Public Policy Congress of LeadingAge. He serves as an editor for the Assisted Living National Examination Study Guide and the financial module of the certification course for aging service providers taught at the University of North Texas. He has written examination questions for the National Administrators Board of Examiners.
