Habitat and Wells Fargo team up on new home

Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County and corporate partner Wells Fargo dedicated the latest home Thursday to be built in Habitat’s Grace Point community, the final step in a Habitat family’s journey to home ownership.

The home is being built for the Woodruff family. As a Habitat Greenville program participant, Aquata Woodruff completed more than 25 hours of homeownership education classes. She also completed 200 hours of “sweat equity,” building her home and the homes of other Habitat homeowners, alongside volunteers from Wells Fargo and other partner organizations. She will pay an affordable mortgage for the home.

During the dedication, build partners and sponsors presented the Woodruff family with gifts that will prepare them for life as homeowners, including tools, a vacuum cleaner, lawnmower, and cleaning supplies. Artist Carol Hoffman presented the family a watercolor, and Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild donated a handmade quilt for each family member.

This is the second home that Wells Fargo has fully sponsored with Habitat Greenville, and the company has made significant donations to additional Habitat builds. This home is one of many homes Wells Fargo has committed to building as part of the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation, which supports organizations across the country working to address the need for affordable housing in their communities.
