Financial landscape looks bright for blue collar workers
April 5, 2017By Kathryn Hauer
Blue collar dollars are flowing thanks to President Trump; how can you get them and keep them? About 40% of Americans work in blue collar careers – that’s 47 million blue collar workers. And the number is growing with every job-related Trump tweet. How can you or your kids get those jobs? And once you’re making $70K a year as an ironworker or medical technician, how are you going to keep that money safe and make it grow?
Conventional wisdom says: “Go to a 4-year college if you want to succeed.” That’s not necessarily true. In today’s job market, blue collar workers can earn a better salary than many university-degree-holders without the debt associated with 4 years of college. Today’s blue collar careers offer high salaries and gratifying work, requiring only an apprenticeship or 2 years at a tech college. Don’t underestimate the financial opportunities open to the blue collar professional.
The book “Financial Advice for Blue Collar America” helps blue collar workers maximize career potential and minimize financial risk while climbing the ladder of financial freedom. Short on cash? Worried about retirement? Not sure how to pay for college? Join the crowd! These challenges trouble most Americans, but few people have time or interest to sort through countless internet sites or bulky books filled with complicated financial advice. Is there somewhere simple to turn? Yes! “Financial Advice for Blue Collar America” has the answers you’re looking for.
Championing the blue collar worker, I challenge colloquial wisdom and offer advice for the blue collar worker of our time:
- Make more money: a guidance counselor’s salary of $42,000 works out to about $1.6M over a lifetime career; an ironworker making about $72,000 could earn about $3M.
- Get paid for every hour you work: in most blue collar fields, you get paid for your overtime, often at a time-and-a-half rate; most white collar jobs expect overtime and few pay for it.
- Keep your money safe: visit the safe websites listed in this book to get answers without being sold to; this book is a good read and a great reference.
You’ve got to learn the basics if you want to be financially successful. In order to make a sometimes dull subject leap off the page and into your financial toolbox, I reference deer-hunting, shoe-shopping, Puff the Magic Dragon, and more. With this in-depth look at the financial challenges facing Americans today, Financial Advice for Blue Collar America gives a growing blue collar work force the tools needed to thrive. It is also available in Spanish: “Asesoramiento Financiero para la Clase Trabajadora de los Estados Unidos.”.
Even without a Trump-driven “infrastructure boom,” lucrative blue collar positions go unfilled – statistics show that 2.5 blue collar million jobs are waiting. Current blue collar workers need this book to keep their money safe and growing. If you or your kids are thinking about a blue collar career, “Financial Advice for Blue Collar America” is a must-read.
Love him or hate him, you and your kids need to take advantage of blue collar jobs generated by President Trump. I’d love to talk more with you about this story. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kathy
