Power to the People? Making Sense of Latin American Elections 2018-2019

October 11, 2018

This year, the three largest countries by population in Latin America – Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico – had or will have political elections, potentially shifting political leadership. What does the future hold for Latin America with its high levels of citizen insecurity, immigration crises, corruption and economic instability? What’s at stake with these changes in power and how might they affect us here in the Upstate?  Find out at the World Affairs Council Upstate’s next America and the World Lecture on Wednesday, October 17, from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at the Ogletree Deakins Main Floor Conference Room, 300 N. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601.

Dr. Cleve Fraser, professor of Politics and International Affairs at Furman, will lead the lecture and provide insight into the current politics and elections in Latin America. This lecture is the second of our 2nd annual America and the World Lecture Series, hosted by the World Affairs Council Upstate in partnership with Furman University. Dr. Fraser is a former Chair of the Politics and International Affairs Department, as well a former Coordinator of the Latin American Studies Interdisciplinary Minor.
