Chris Fraser, Avison Young, Principal and Managing Director of the firm’s South Carolina region, announced today the strategic hiring of veteran investment real estate sales professional Gary Lyons in Greenville.
Effective immediately, Lyons becomes a Senior Vice-President, specializing in the marketing, disposition and acquisition of investment properties in the growing Upstate area. Lyons, a 19- year commercial real estate industry veteran, will also continue to focus on office property brokerage across regional and national markets. Lyons moves to Avison Young’s Greenville office after joining the company in Raleigh-Durham in 2013 from Lincoln Harris, where he served as a vice-president responsible for investment sales.
During his career, Lyons has successfully completed more than $300 million worth of investment sales transactions. Prior to joining Lincoln Harris, Lyons served nine years as the managing director/senior advisor in the Raleigh/Durham office of Sperry Van Ness (SVN), where he directed a team of brokers that specialized in investment sales transactions. Under his leadership, the brokerage team completed approximately $200 million worth of transactions in nearly every sector of the industry. In 2009, Lyons served as the president of the North Carolina chapter of CCIM, an organization comprising more than 600 members.
“I’m excited to join the team of professionals in Avison Young’s Greenville office,” says Lyons. “The potential for significant expansion of the firm’s investment sales’ initiatives across South Carolina is substantial. I appreciate the confidence placed in me to lead this charge in Greenville while continuing to collaborate with our other team members across the rest of the Carolinas’ region.”
Lyons holds both the SIOR and CCIM designations and is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University. He is a licensed broker in both South Carolina and North Carolina.
