CIU opening School of Business and Professional Studies

October 25, 2017

Preparations are underway at Columbia International University to open a School of Business and Professional Studies that will house its growing list of business-related programs.

CIU initiated its first undergraduate business major, Business & Organizational Leadership, in 2012. It has quickly grown to become one of CIU’s largest undergraduate programs. In 2015, CIU added the Sport Management program, and this past summer, a fully online MBA became available, as well as fully online bachelor and associate degrees in business, designed for adult learners.

Additionally, CIU recently announced plans for the building of a $20 million Business and IT Global Initiative Center on its Monticello Road campus.

CIU Provost Dr. Jim Lanpher says that with the expected growth in business-related programs, housing them in a School of Business and Professional Studies is an academically strategic decision.

“This will uniquely position CIU to be a leader in globally-focused business education, equipping students with the skills needed for the marketplace, and taught from a biblical worldview,” Lanpher said.

The School of Business and Professional Studies will be led by Professor Scott Adams, J.D., the current director of CIU’s Business & Organizational Leadership program.

Founded in 1923, CIU is private, Christian and multidenominational, preparing students to make a positive impact on the world through their professional calling. The university is recognized for the quality of its academic offerings, consistently ranked among the top Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report.
