Peace Center launches fundraising campaign to replace theater seats, make other upgrades

September 27, 2017

The Peace Center has launched a fundraising campaign to replace all 2,111 seats in Peace Concert Hall, along with other upgrades.

The new seats will be equal in comfort and quality to the originals and will feature upholstery from Greenville’s own KM Fabrics. Leg room will remain the same, and the seating configuration will not change. The seats are expected to be installed in the summer of 2018, in time for the 2018-2019 season.

In addition to the seats, the entire Peace Concert Hall audience chamber will be refreshed with new paint and stain, acoustic curtains, light fixtures and enhancements to the assisted listening systems.

“The seats in the Concert Hall have served the Upstate community well since the Peace Center opened in 1990,” said Peace Center President and CEO Megan Riegel. “We want to make sure everyone who has been able to enjoy performances over the years has the opportunity to participate in this campaign, so we’ve included a flexible payment plan option. I know the same supporters who have helped us wear out the original seats will help us break in the new ones!”

By making a tax-deductible gift of $1,500, a supporter can have a plaque placed on one of the new seats, inscribed with their name or the name of someone they wish to honor. This recognition will remain for the life of the seat. They can also keep one of the original seats, to remember their experiences at the Peace Center. A 10-month payment plan is available.

The campaign will continue through the 2017-2018 season. More information is available at www.peacecenter.org/replace- seats/.

Those who would like to give the gift of a seat (or multiple seats) should call 864.679.9233 or email [email protected].
