Lynn Harton, president and chief operating officer of United Community Bank, is a veteran of the banking industry and has worked with several leading banks throughout his 30 year career. Harton, who is based in Greenville, is now utilizing his expertise to lead the Georgia-based United in expansion and growth in strategic southeastern markets, including South Carolina.

At the beginning of 2015, United was a $7 billion bank with about 100 branches in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Before the end of the year, United had made two strategic acquisitions in the growth markets of Knoxville/East Tennessee and Upstate South Carolina, as well as Charleston, South Carolina. United Community Banks now has surpassed $10 billion in assets and has more than 130 branches.
