Miller assumes role as dean of students

Christopher Miller, Ph.D. has been named Clemson University’s associate vice president for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. Miller is assuming the role after serving as interim dean of students since March 2016.
“Chris has made great strides during his time at Clemson,” said Vice President of Student Affairs Almeda Jacks. “Chris has a wonderful skill set combined with passion and commitment for our students. We’re looking forward to seeing him build upon his success.”
“My time as interim dean has allowed me to identify what works as well as challenges among our student body,” said Miller. “I’m excited and eager to turn challenges into opportunities for all Clemson students.”
With more than 20 years in higher education, Miller served as vice president for Student Affairs at Marquette University and was vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Administrative Services at the University of Illinois-Springfield.
At Clemson, he will lead and have administrative and programmatic oversight for all policies, budgets, facilities and personnel within the following departments and offices in Student Affairs: New Student and Family Programs, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of Community and Ethical Standards, Center for Career and Professional Development, and Student Advocacy and Success.
Miller earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his master’s and doctorate degrees from Arizona State University and his law degree from Campbell University.
