GreatUpstate.com produces The Stories of the Upstate
April 11, 2016A podcast giving listeners a personal look into community leaders
GreatUpstate.com has launched an online resource for Upstate South Carolina, providing both residents and visitors with an all-inclusive outlet for local attractions, businesses, specials, no cost digital coupons and much more. GreatUpstate.com works to give viewers and listeners a one stop destination to everything the Upstate has to offer.
Along with using the site as a way to learn more about the Upstate’s many attractions, it is also the home to “Stories of the Upstate” and “The Downtown Jam” concert series. “Stories of the Upstate” is a bi-weekly podcast that highlights both business and community leaders giving the listener an inside look into the person’s life, in and outside of the office. So far, there have been over 80 stories published, showcasing Upstate politicians, radio personalities, business leaders and heads of non-profits.
Founder, Loyd Ford, wanted to create a podcast that would give listeners a way to not just learn about the interviewee’s profession but to also cast a light on their personal life as well. Questions such as “What is something people do not know about you?” or “What words of wisdom do you live by” and even asking them “What is your favorite breakfast cereal?” all show the personality behind the professional.
“This show is about the people, the passion and the wisdom of Upstate South Carolina,” states Ford, “I want to give the Upstate something they have never had before, an outlet to learn about the people in our community who make a difference.”
“Stories of the Upstate” is launched directly on GreatUpstate.com, but is also a podcast that can be downloaded on iTunes and the Stitcher app. Monthly, GreatUpstate.com also launches a free concert,
“The Downtown Jam.” Each month local singer-songwriters will meet in a secret location in Greenville and will play original songs and tell their stories bringing a full concert to life. GreatUpstate.com records the concert, and posts it to “Stories of the Upstate” for no cost. The series will highlight unique artist from all over the Upstate.
GreatUpstate.com gives the Upstate three different programs that are both beneficial and informative to our community. To learn more please visit www.GreatUpstate.com
