Urban League of the Upstate honors community at Whitney M. Young, Jr. Equal Opportunity Mardi Gras Gala

The Urban League of the Upstate hosted its annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Humanitarian Award Mardi Gras Gala on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Greenville, SC.  With over 400 guests in attendance, this year’s event was a combination of our previous Whitney M. Young Jr. Humanitarian Award and Equal Opportunity Day Dinners. In keeping with the previous years’ format, the event paid homage to the late Whitney M. Young, Jr., former National Urban League President and saluted the great works of those in the Upstate Community who selflessly work to make significant advancements in the areas of education, volunteerism, corporate citizenship, and inspirational leadership. With special guests Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, Mrs. Ben Carson, and Karen Finney, former MSNBC Correspondent in attendance, musical entertainment was provided by the Horizon Band and a special performance provided by the Zoe Greene Girlz, the following were honored for their outstanding community works:
