Clemson hosts ‘Being a Leader’ with Harvard professor Michael Jensen

CLEMSON, SC — Clemson University’s College of Business and Behavioral Science will present an introduction to the course “Being a Leader” Oct. 7 with renowned Harvard professor of business and one of the founders of financial economics, Michael Jensen.

Jensen, Jesse Isidor Straus Professor of Business Administration Emeritus at Harvard Business School, will offer a short presentation emphasizing how being a leader and the effective exercise of leadership not only leads to organizational success, but to a high-quality personal life.

Following the presentation, there will be an interactive panel discussion focusing on Jensen and his colleagues’ 11 years of research and course development. The group’s innovative approach provides a foundation for leadership built on authenticity, integrity and committing to something bigger than oneself.

Jensen will be joined by colleagues Jeri Echeverria, executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer, California State University System (retired); and Bobby McCormick, dean of Clemson’s College of Business and Behavioral Science.

“Michael Jensen’s approach focuses on how to be a leader as your natural and authentic state of being,” McCormick said. “His method of teaching aligns with our mission of preparing students to be empowered, resourceful and ethical leaders who will flourish within the global marketplace.”

Jensen will preview this game-changing leadership course that Clemson is offering in June of 2016. The course at Clemson is open to local companies on a limited basis and is the only time it will be offered in North America in 2016.
